A Fresh Look for the Hastings Community Hub

A Fresh Look for the Hastings Community Hub

There’s been plenty happening at our Hastings Community Hub at 720 Pakowhai Road, and over the past few months we’ve been giving the space a bit of a refresh and looking at how we can make better use of what we have.

Our goal for the Hub is pretty simple – we want it to be a welcoming, affordable and flexible place where local organisations, community groups and people can work, meet, run programmes and connect with each other.

One of the great things about the Hub is the variety of spaces available. We have private lockable offices and shared open-plan workspaces for organisations looking for somewhere affordable to base themselves, as well as meeting and training spaces that can be hired casually or regularly.

For smaller meetings, our Board Room seats up to 10 people and includes a large TV for presentations or video calls. We also have larger flexible meeting and community spaces that work well for team training, workshops, hui, classes, volunteer meetings and community programmes.

Not everything needs to happen around a boardroom table either. We have a more relaxed meeting area with couches, beanbags and flexible seating that works really well for mentoring, informal catch-ups or simply sitting down for a coffee and a conversation.

The Villa, which is also home to our Youth Hub, provides another great option. It includes a large activity space, smaller meeting areas and access to our youth gym, making it particularly suited to youth, recreation, wellbeing and community programmes.

Across the site there’s free Wi-Fi, kitchen facilities, plenty of onsite parking and some great outdoor spaces, so there’s a lot of flexibility in how the Hub can be used.

We’re already fortunate to have a number of organisations and groups sharing the Hub, and that’s exactly what we want to see more of. Rather than everyone having to maintain their own building, meeting room or office, there’s a real opportunity to share spaces, resources and ideas.

Whether you need a desk or office to call home, somewhere for a monthly meeting, a room for a workshop, or a regular space to deliver a community programme, we’d love to have a chat.

There’s still more we want to do as we continue refreshing and improving the Hub, but we’re excited about its potential to become an even stronger home for community activity in Hastings.

If you’re looking for a space, come and have a look around – you might be surprised by just how much is here.
